The latest data from the Institute of Douro and Port Wine now published, referring to the consolidated sales of Oporto wine in 2012, reinforce the leadership of Sogevinus, assigning it the first place in the ranking of sales in Portugal, reaching a share of Market share of 25%. Among the different categories of Port wine, Sogevinus is also an absolute leader (national and international market) in the Porto Harvest category, where its brands are widely recognized.

With a brilliant amber color, this wine with more than half a century of history, presents a perfect bouquet that combines notes of nuts with touches of wood, chocolate, hazelnuts and caramel. In the category of tranquil wines, Burmester DOC Douro Red 2011 is proof of excellence in the production of these wines by Sogevinus with the certificate of quality and experience of its centenary Porto wine houses. The full aroma of red and black fruits and soft floral notes combine with mineral notes. In the mouth it shows a good structure and remarkable complexity with firm but balanced tannins. “Warm tawny with amber at rim. The nose is wonderfully refined and effusive, slightly lifted, very complex and with glimpses of treacle, sweet spices, dried fruit and chocolate. Competition sponsored by ViniPortugal brought together a prestigious international jury, which once again recognized the quality of the wines of the Kopke, Burmester, Cálem and Barros houses, both in the Port wine category and in the DOC Douro wines.

The Wine Contest of Portugal, whose awards ceremony took place yesterday, May 29, at the Palácio da Bolsa in Oporto. More than a thousand wines were submitted to a jury with the participation of 75 national winemakers and 25 experts from different countries.

The Portuguese Wine Competition, sponsored by ViniPortugal, was attended by a prestigious jury of national and international critics, chaired by Luis Ramos Lopes, director of the Wine Magazine, David Schwarzwalder (Germany), Jorge Carrara (Brazil), Tom Firth ) And Mary Ewing Mulligan (USA).
The great highlight goes to the Burmester Porto Colheita 1963, elected by the Grand Jury for the exclusive list of 16 wines awarded Gold Medal Great, considered the best in the race. In total, Sogevinus wines collected three more gold medals and three bronze medals, having been one of the most awarded producers in the competition.
Among the gold medals are Barros Porto Colheita 1937, Burmester Porto Tordiz 40 Years Tawny and Kopke Douro DOC Reserva Branco 2011, a medal that confirms the commitment to the production of DOC Douro wines of high quality. The Wine Competition of Portugal, whose award ceremony took place on June 7, had a jury of 100 critics and experts, of which 36 are international. The competition and evaluated in blind proof were 1007 wines, among which 919 quiet wines and 88 fortified wines.
